Yesterday, August 31 2024, was the date indicated on my N13 notice for when the landlord wanted me to move out by. Today is the 1st of September, and I am still here. I have not received any eviction orders, and no one has stopped by asking me to leave.

I expect that the next step for the landlord will be for them to file an L2 'Application to End a Tenancy and Evict a Tenant or Collect Money' against me.

Once the landlord files the L2 against me, I expect that the Landlord and Tenant board will mail out a notice to me through regular postal mail. I believe this notice will provide me with some kind of online portal access where I can check the status of the landlord's case against me and be notified of the hearing date.

I was unable to find exact numbers and timelines, but some google searches lead me to believe that it will take several weeks just to be assigned a hearing date. Some anecdotal reports suggest that the hearing date will be least 4 months in future once it is assigned. Hearings can sometimes be adjourned (rescheduled into the future) for multiple reasons which can further extend the timeline.

At the hearing, I will contest the eviction and excoriate the landlord's obviously false pretense for requesting said eviction.

In the event that the LTB does issue an eviction order against me, I have read anecdotes that it takes on the other of weeks to months before the sheriff will actually come knocking on my door. I've also read that it takes longer to go through this process in the winter.
