Today, August 29th 2024 at around 10:30am, a sealed envelope was placed in my mail slot. On the exterior of the envelope was written "3 months". Inside the envelope was a cheque addressed to me for three months rent:



The implication behind giving out these cheques is that if you actually go ahead and cash it, "then you must have agreed to the terms of the agreement to move out". Therefore, if you do not plan to move out, you should not cash the cheque. Otherwise, they can justifiably argue that you already entered an agreement to move out and received your compensation, which would make it much easier for them to obtain and execute an eviction order against you.
