NewsPrior to the first general inspection, management also required access to our units on December 12th, and 13th, 2023. On the day that they entered the units, they turned on one of the burners to the stove briefly (I suspect that this may have been done to apply a visibly obvious electrical load that could be observed on the newly upgraded power meters, thereby verifying their upgrade and the association with the correct apartment).
![]() In regards to the pest control letter: I just called the number on the letter, and a representative of management assured me that their entry would just be for a 'general inspection', and that they would not be spraying any pesticide treatment in the unit.
Today, August 29th 2024 at around 10:30am, a sealed envelope was placed in my mail slot. On the exterior of the envelope was written "3 months". Inside the envelope was a cheque addressed to me for three months rent:
![]() The implication behind giving out these cheques is that if you actually go ahead and cash it, "then you must have agreed to the terms of the agreement to move out". Therefore, if you do not plan to move out, you should not cash the cheque. Otherwise, they can justifiably argue that you already entered an agreement to move out and received your compensation, which would make it much easier for them to obtain and execute an eviction order against you. On the morning of August 29th at around 10:00am, the following notice was placed in my mail slot. It says:
"RE: General Inspection Dear Tenant(s), Please be advised that we will be entering your apartment on Friday. August 30,2024, between the hours of 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM for a pest control treatment. Should you have any questions or concerns please contact the property management at XXX XXX XXXX. We appreciate your cooperation, Management 250 Frederick Inc." This is unexpected since I do not have (nor have I ever had) a pest control problem. ![]() 250 Frederick St. was mentioned in these two news articles about ACORN's calls for an anti-renoviction bylaw:
